E3 Postmortem | Yesterday’s News Today

Hey there folks, Kevin is still a little tied up right now so I am stepping in once again to bring you our weekly news breakdown. With E3 2021 finally winding down perhaps things can be a little less hectic. Let’s dive into this week’s news.

E3 2021

E3 2021 has come to a close at least. We’ve seen some great things this year for sure. Going to say it now, Nintendo won E3 in my heart this year. Be sure to check out our E3 2021 coverage here. I am sure you will find something to get hyped about too.

Also, don’t forget to check out our podcast Into the Multi-Voice this week. We did a special episode where we talk about the major E3 2021 showcases and give them grades like they are bringing home a report card. And our very own Big Daddy himself wrote a special piece about Nintendo’s E3 presentation that is well worth the read. You can find that piece here.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp is Getting Online

For the life of me I cannot tell you why they did not include this information in the original announcement trailer. I remember watching it and wondering if this game would have some sort of competitive play. I am happy to say that Nintendo confirmed that it will have up to 4 person online versus mode. So let the hype grow for this title.

Blue Box and “Abandoned” Conspiracy

Earlier this week a seemingly brand new studio announced a game titled Abandoned and it is apparently giving people Silent Hill vibes. So the internet has gone crazy assuming this is Kojima pulling the same stunt he did to tease the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. In which he pretended to be a smaller studio announcing a game titled The Phantom Pain. I am not here to tell you what to think on the matter, but it certainly is interesting.

Pokemon UNITE Gets a Release Date

Another one of those “not sure why it was not included in the Nintendo Direct” but Pokemon UNITE, the new Pokemon themed MOBA has finally gotten a release date. It will be coming to Switch in July 2021, and later to mobile in September of 2021. Looking forward to trying this out.

Castlevania Advance Collection Rumored to be Rated in Australia

This would certainly be neat if it is real. I am a huge fan of the series and would be super excited to play this myself. Looks like we will just have to keep our ears to the ground for more news on this.

River City Girls 2 and River City Girls Zero Announced

A sequel to the Beat ‘Em Up River City Girls is getting a sequel. But, that is not all. They are also bringing the game that inspired the current series to market as well, River City Girls Zero. I am hyped for these as the original was a really fun Beat ‘Em Up and I always love seeing this genre get more great titles.

Shantae Series Collection for PS5

The classic platformer series is coming to the PS5, being brought to you in part by Limited Run Games. Now, I was excited for this at first but than I realized that it is each individual game. I still might buy one or two of the games, but I would have loved this more if it was a one disc collection.

That is all I have for you this week. There is so much more games news coming in still that I can’t wait to see what the next week holds for us. Be sure to check in with Big Daddy Gaming as we bring you some amazing content.
