Out of the Box
Spending nearly a week in the woods camping, hiking and fishing gave me good cause to run the new Pikachu Electric Type protective case from PowerA through the ringer. Though large enough for the original Nintendo Switch, I opted to bring my Switch Lite along for the ride. Fortunately, the new design from PowerA allows you to use this case for either Nintendo Switch. A clever foam insert let’s you convert the space inside to snuggly secure the Lite model.
And Into the Case
The Pikachu Electric Type case certainly makes a statement. The outer shell is a vibrant yellow with the most adorable image of a Pikachu sitting beside a pokeball on it. Seriously, it’s one of the cutest Pikachus I’ve seen. The case is sturdy with a strong handle to make carrying it around easier than my designated Lite case. The only downside, is that the Pikachu Electric case is a bit bulkier since it can also contain the OG Switch. Not a bad thing if you need to tote the latter but it did occupy more space in my backpack when things were already cramped for my camping trip.
Taking extra space can be a minor thing. Especially considering the trade off. This case from PowerA kept my Switch safe and secure while I was tromping around a lush forest. I didn’t have to worry about undue stress or pressure being forced against the screen or on the control sticks. Additionally, the case was able to store nine cartridges and a few smaller accessories inside a secure zippered area. The inner lining also uses the yellow coloring with extra lined images of Pikachu.
I was thoroughly impressed with the Pikachu Electric Type PowerA Protection Case. Its quality and durability make it an ideal travelling companion, even if it’s a tad larger than my designated Switch Lite case. The handle is tightly woven to the case with a nice rubberized grip and the zippers operate smoothly. Having the ability to adapt the case for either the Switch Lite or original Nintendo Switch is a fantastic feature. The price is also comparable with similar cases on the market but the interior pouch having a zipper and the other features mentioned make it one of the best options. Now excuse me while I go wrestle it away from my daughter.
