Tears of the Kingdom is fast approaching and if the internet atmosphere right now in fan communities is anything to go by, I can’t be the only one eagerly sitting here and counting the days until it’s released. The fervor is reaching a fever pitch at this point and there’s nothing that Nintendo or anyone else can do to stop it. In fact, Nintendo miht only be fanning the flames with their recently announced treehouse livestream that is set to stream mere hours before the game unlocks on consoles.
So, many of us might be saying goodbye to the Hyrule of Breath of the Wild for a little while. Undoubtedly some of us will return and I am sure that there will be a group that end up favoring Breath of the Wild down the line, but for now, it may be goodbye for many of us, so let’s take a look at ways you can spend the week before the Tears of the Kingdom launch taking one last trip around the world of Breath of the Wild.
Collect all 900 Korok seeds
Now I jest, this one is only for those who are completely dedicated to the point of insanity. The 900 korok seeds are a feat to pursue, and one that doesn’t even have that much of a reward at the end of the long, long, long road. If you really do want to do this, there is an interactive map online that can help you along, but this isn’t something I would recommend starting now.
Take your horses for one more ride
If you played Breath of the Wild, you doubtless tamed a horse or two in the time that you spent with it, or perhaps you even tamed a whole stable of them. Either way, if you haven’t pulled one out in a while because you were focusing on other traversal methods, it might be worth it to take your fine friends out for one last walk around the region. Maybe even leave them somewhere on their own so that you might pretend that you set them free.
Finish up the DLC
If you never got around to finishing out any of the DLC content, now is a prime time to give it a shot. I can attest that it’s well worth doing and will really challenge you and push your knowledge of the game further than ever before. I wouldn’t say that you need to start all over to do it again, to be clear, but for those who got started and never wrapped up because they were swayed away by another game or because life simply got in the way, this is something that is worth doing to put a neat bow on your experience.
Become a homeowner
You might have already done this, but if you never got to experience buying a house in Hyrule, you might as well do so. After all, only 3,000 rupees is a steal! And let’s be real, if you’re of a certain age and socioeconomic class… being a homeowner can feel like something of a dream to even begin with. So, do it digitally instead! You can even do a little decorating by hanging up some weapons on the walls and such. Personally, my little sister and I like keeping the champion weapons here because they feel so special.
Rebuild Tarry Town
Compared to buying your own home, building a town feels like something that’s even more of a feat, which is why you should definitely help to get Tarry town completely built up if you have the time for it. Seeing this town grow as you take on this lengthy multi-part quest is something that can feel intensely satisfying and it’s always good to add another settlement to the landscape of Hyrule after so many years of calamity.
Attempt a Challenge Run
If you’re looking form something more intense, this might be the route you want to go, but I can’t guarantee at this point you’ll finish it in time. Challenge runs are something that can be both satisfying and arduous at the same time, but if you’re up for the challenge, who are we to stop you? If you’re just interested in learning about challenge runs, though, and all the thought that has to go into them, I highly recommend checking out some of the videos that the YouTube community has made. Gamechamp3000 in particular has some fascinating runs (see above) such as beating the game without pausing a single time or without climbing anything in the game world.
